Benefits of Negative Ions

Benefits of Negative Ions

Before talking about benefits of negative ions, it is important to understand what actually ions are and how do they formed?

Technically, Ions are charged particles in air that are formed when enough acts upon a molecule such as carbon dioxide, oxygen, water or nitrogen to eject an electron from molecule leaving a positively charged Ion.

You must remember the feeling you experienced near a waterfall or high in the mountains. Ions and especially negative ions are cause of that feeling. Mountains and waterfall are the two places where thousands of negative ions occur. They create an effect on human biochemistry.

Benefits of Negative Ions:

Now it will be easy for us to understand the benefits of Negative Ions. Following are some of the important benefits we get from negative ions.

They help freshen and purify the air. Because of the negative ions allergens such pollen, mold spores, animal dander and dust floating in the air, get stick to each other (because they have either positive or neutral charge), forming ‘clumps’ (with negative ions).  Then these clumps of particles become enough heavy to be pull down by gravity to floor where they can be vacuumed up. This way we get fresh air and cause of allergic reactions gets reduced.

It has also been observed that negative ions help lift mood, seasonal affective disorder (especially winter depression) and alleviate depression.
